Dave Staniforth
Dave was born in Durban, educated at Michaelhouse and currently based in Perth, Australia where he is employed by Hockey Australia as the goalkeeper coach for the national mens and ladies hockey teams (the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras).
Dave played in goal for South Africa from 2001 to 2005 with his highlights being the FIH World Cup 2002 (Kuala Lumpur), the Commonwealth Games 2002 (Manchester) and the 2004 Olympic Games (Athens) where he was rated as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Dave is a specialist goalkeeper coach and has coached many of the worlds best goalkeepers. On the international stage, he coached the South African goalkeepers (2010 to 2012), India (2013 to 2017) and Australia (2017 to present) and also had spells with the Ranchi Rhinos (2013 and 2014) and the UP Wizards (2015 and 2016) in the Hockey India League
